“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are” – Joseph Campbell
All too often we live the life that someone else has told us to live, putting into reality a story someone else told us to be true. Incredibly, every one of us holds an invincible power to shape the truth of our own lives. You are your own source of who you are and the type of person you are. You are the designer of your own strengths. You are the author of your own story and you get to choose which role you will play. Why not be the hero for your own life? You can shape this trajectory as you see fit. You never have to rely on the casting that someone else has imposed on you.
Are you beautiful? Are you athletic? Are you resilient? Are you an adventurer? YOU GET TO DECIDE! Even if you have never felt that way before, believing it and acknowledging it as true makes it so. In fact, you even get to change your mind from time to time. What wasn’t important to you three years ago may be your dream today. The character you played in the past does not have to shape the character you are today or even the character you are working to become.
Have you ever admired someone who seems like she is full of self-confidence regardless of the opinions of the world around her? It is a choice each of us gets to make every day. Who’s to say you are wrong? If today I tell myself I am beautiful, then I am. Really. My reality is created by my own design and only limited by my own creativity. You create your own story, the good and the bad. Have you told yourself you are not good at math? Imagine if you stopped telling yourself that story and told yourself that you CAN learn math. What if you just were not good at math YET? No one can tell you differently. Maybe you learn math in a different way. Everyone is “not good at math” until you learn, until you try. And who are you comparing yourself to when it comes to beauty or math anyway? This hero that you are shaping is unique to your story and in this story of your life you get to decide.
Phenomenally we get to rewrite this story every single day and anytime we want to. Do you believe you are worthy of happiness? Do you believe you are worthy of success? Absolutely you are. The gift is the ability to hold on to that belief and to have faith in the truth of it. You are the author of this life for yourself and you deserve to be its hero.
Lead as the HERO of your own story.
Love,
Tarryn
